Terms of Use

Overview

These terms cover using Muse Shelf, on the iPhone and on the web, and buying Muse Pro. Muse Shelf is made by Jason Muse ("Muse", "we"). By using Muse Shelf or buying Muse Pro, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

Using Muse

Muse Shelf is for keeping your own library of movies, shows, games, books, music and more. Please use it lawfully and for yourself. Don't try to break, overload or get around Muse's services, copy its data in bulk, or use it to harass anyone. Muse can suspend an account that does.

Your account and your library

A Muse account is optional. If you make one, keep your sign-in to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account. What you add to your library is yours. You let Muse store it, sync it between your devices and back it up, only to run Muse for you. You can delete it, or your whole account, at any time from Settings.

Muse Pro

Muse Pro unlocks extra features on your Muse account, on every device you sign in on. You can buy it monthly, yearly or once for lifetime access. The price and what's included are shown before you pay.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price you agreed to, until you cancel. If the price changes, you'll be told before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it happens.
  • Free trial. When the yearly plan comes with a free week, you're charged when the week ends unless you cancel before then. The trial is for people who haven't bought Muse Pro before.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal. Muse Pro stays on until the end of the time you've paid for. Deleting the app or your Muse account doesn't cancel a subscription.
  • Lifetime is a single payment, not a subscription. It keeps Muse Pro on your account for as long as Muse Shelf offers Pro.

Buying through the App Store

Purchases made in the iPhone app are sold and billed by Apple. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement and Apple's own terms apply to them too. Manage or cancel them in your Apple account settings, and ask Apple for refunds.

Buying on the web

On the web, Muse Pro is sold by Muse. The checkout is run by RevenueCat, and Stripe processes the payment, by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. Muse never sees your card details. Prices are in US dollars, and taxes are added where the law requires them.

  • Your receipt email has a link to manage your subscription, where you can cancel it or change your payment method. You can also ask us on the contact page.
  • If you were charged by mistake or something's wrong with your purchase, write to us on the contact page. We handle refund requests one by one, and always as the law where you live requires.

Titles, ratings and other services

Title details, artwork and ratings come from services such as TMDB, IGDB, AniList and Apple, and links can take you to other websites. Muse isn't responsible for those services or sites, and they don't endorse Muse. Recommendations and Ask Muse answers, including ones written by AI, can be wrong, so treat them as suggestions.

Changes to Muse

Muse Shelf keeps changing. Features can be added, changed or removed, and Muse may stop offering the service one day. If that happens, we'll give notice where we can, and you can export your library from Settings.

No warranty

Muse Shelf is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Muse isn't liable for indirect or incidental losses, such as lost data or profits. Muse's total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Muse Pro in the 12 months before a claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as Muse changes. The latest version is always on this page, with its date at the top. If a change matters for your purchases, you'll hear about it before it applies.
